On our first day of orientation yesterday, the Dean of Nursing said to us, "You are going to be the most valued, respected, and more importantly, the most employable grad students when you graduate!" She was very encouraging and kept saying how badly the world needs nurses right now. The past two days have been great, meeting new people, hearing about the program, having our egos stroked a little by the professors, etc. There are only about 5 people, including me, getting their Masters in Public Health! I'm glad that it'll be so small compared to the other tracks, like Parent-Child Health with about 40 of the 60 students completing that track. At least for the first 15 months, though, we'll all be together getting ready for the licensure exam... dum da dum dum...
The only sad news is about my good friend Kiran -- she's in the program with me. She had to go to the hospital this morning for a possible ulcer. I'm so worried about her. She must be so stressed because all of our financial aid stuff is due today, she missed our CPR training, etc. Pray for my buddy. :(
